Having a helper or certified fitter is always good.

Step 1 - Finding your bra band size Measurements should be taken while wearing your best fitting bra. Do not hold your breath, arms down at your side. The measuring tape should be held snug, but not tight. Begin by measuring around the ribcage directly underneath the bust (where the bra band is located) making sure the measuring tape is firmly in place and parallel to the floor. Round the resulting number on the tape measure to the nearest whole number. If the measurement is an even number add 4 and if it is an odd number add 5 to get a result in an even number, this is the band size. Example: If you measure 30 inches add 4 (30 + 4 = 34) your band size will be 34. If you measure 31 inches, add 5 (31 + 5 = 36) your band size would be 36. |

Step 2 - Measuring the cup size While still wearing your best fitting bra, arms down at your side, breathing normally and standing straight. Measure over the fullest part of the breast, from the center of the body (sternum) to the center of your back. Double the measurement. Do not round up or down. This result is the cup measurement. Now we determine the cup size by subtracting the band size from the cup measurement. Find the difference on the chart below to determine the cup size. Example: If you measure 18 inches over your breast, double that number (18 x 2 = 36), so you get a 36 cup measurement. Then subtract your band size from step 1 (i.e. 34 band measurement, 36 cup measurement is 36 - 34 = 2). Look on the "Find the cup size" chart below to see that a 2 inch difference is a B cup size. |

Note: For a bilateral mastectomy, you can choose a cup size keeping in mind it should be proportionate to her hip size. |
